I would feel terrible if I didn’t come correct and offer this really quick post for him, as well as for the rest of you folks who drop by from Todd’s, Jason’s and Roger’s blogs…

 

Believe it or not, Ella Fitzgerald did indeed cover “Savoy Truffle”. She cut two albums for Reprise back in 1971. The first, simply called “Ella” is a collection of readings of some Motown standards as well as the aforementioned. The second is called “Things Ain’t What They Used To Be”, which contains more traditional Jazz pieces. Unfortunately the original CD is out of print, but here’s a reasaonable facsimile that is easy enough to obtain.

For those of you who visit here on the regular, I apologise for the lengthy absence. I’ve been quite busy converting stuff in between working seven days a week and such.
